RK is currently building a 300,000-ton water treatment plant with a Decanter centrifuge Three Type 550s, complete with peripherals, will be delivered by September 23 and commissioned by the end of the year.

Korea Environment Agency Congratulatory remarks were delivered by Dr. Seokhoon Park (National Water Industry Cluster Project), Junseok Hwang (Deputy Director, Water Convergence Research Center), and Jongho Park (Director, Water Convergence Research Center).

The Vietnamese side was represented by Mr. Thanh Van Nam (Factory Manager of Song Da Water Joint Stock Company) and the Board of Directors; Mr. Dinh Xuan Thanh (CEO of Phuong Nam Star Trading); Mr. Nguyen Giay Thanh (Deputy Director).

Vietnam is expected to surpass 100 million people in 2023, even in the aftermath of post-COVID-19, and the capital city of Hanoi has a population of 8.4 million. In addition to the population expansion, there are no talented people and companies with long experience in water treatment technology, so overseas technology infrastructure is needed in various fields such as engineering, management know-how, and human resource training.

In particular, Vietnam has been seeking continuous overseas cooperation on water treatment operation know-how and countermeasures, including a major accident in 2019 when Hanoi's drinking water turned black after a large amount of waste oil flowed into the city's water purification plant, an official said.

Having supplied centrifugal dewatering machines and multi-disc screw presses to water treatment projects in South Korea, ARK will supply three centrifugal dewatering machines to replace Vietnam's relatively old, conventional sludge dewatering machines, and will also provide management know-how.

In this regard, Mr. Hong said, “Vietnam is a country based on agriculture and manufacturing, which is a water-scarce country due to the use of a lot of agricultural water, and a country that requires advanced sewage and wastewater treatment and water purification treatment due to the use of a lot of industrial water. In particular, Hanoi is a large city with a population of 8.4 million people. Unlike countries in East Asia that have a long history of urbanization, the rapid urbanization means that there is a lack of engineers and human resources for a long period of time. Through this MOU, we will provide various support for the development of technical proficiency and human resources in the water industry in Vietnam.”.

“Since joining the Water Cluster, we have been working on an innovative project to develop a centrifugal dehydrator for overseas export. We are pleased to have completed the task of supplying dehydrators that can respond to rapid urbanization by developing centrifugal dehydrators suitable for the Southeast Asian region.”.

Finally, Mr. Park Seok-hoon, Head of the Water Industry Cluster Business Unit of the Korea Environment Agency, said, “This MOU is symbolic as it is the first MOU between Korean companies in Vietnam for a national water purification plant. We look forward to the safe supply of water to Hanoi through the know-how of water treatment technology for urbanization that Korea has experienced in the past, and congratulate Korea-Vietnam for its positive impact on technology exchange.”.
