Vietnam Water 20204 Review

Hello, I'm Sohee Jeon from the public relations office.
Last week, from June 6-8, the ‘VIETWATER2024‘s review.

The event, held at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), was a significant reminder of how deep, growing and important the water industry is in Southeast Asia.

Water is a food and energy resource that can sustain irreplaceable life energy in the future called ‘WATERGY'.

On the other hand, in extreme weather events, we are often hit by torrential rainfall that comes in unexpectedly short bursts.

Just this week, Spain received a month's worth of rainfall in a single day, causing flooding, suggesting that it's not just urban drainage systems that are at risk, but how deeply we explore ‘climatech" in the face of climate change.

Currently, in the U.S., bio is the number one industry and climate tech is the number two. Therefore, at VIETWATER2024, we recognized from the interest of various speakers, companies, and international buyers that it is not just environmental engineering-related products that are important, but also climate tech-related awareness and R&D.

We are currently working on a centrifugal dehydrator R&D project related to carbon reduction, and we will continue to walk the right path of an environmental company in line with the challenges of climate technology. Through this exhibition, we met with various potential customers and recognized the importance of the Vietnamese market.

Vietnam's water treatment plants, water industry infrastructure in high demand

This is our booth where many buyers visited. During the exhibition, you can recognize the level of potential buyers or interested customers, and in Vietnam, the level of questions is higher than other Southeast Asian countries.

While there are not many veteran engineers with extensive experience in wastewater treatment technology, Vietnam is open to foreign investment and public-private partnership (PPP) projects, so companies in industrial parks should have a good understanding of wastewater treatment technology, especially given the government's preference for semiconductors, electronics, and high-tech processed foods.

Although the water reuse rate is still not high in any country in the world, it is clear that it will develop by focusing on increasing the high level of wastewater treatment and reuse rate, and I was able to understand the interest and level of interest of various buyers at the local booth.

Vietnam, Southeast Asia's water market gains global attention

Not only Vietnamese companies, but also many European and North American officials who have entered Vietnam came to this exhibition. As such, Vietnam Water is recognized as one of the most important exhibitions in the world, and we recognized the explosive economic growth of Vietnam in the Southeast Asian water market and felt that Vietnam is receiving more attention than Indonesia and Thailand because of its high export surplus compared to other Southeast Asian countries and its active infrastructure expansion in the water industry market.

How Vietnam compares to Indonesia and Thailand

Vietnam has maintained positive growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a high growth rate of 8.021 TP3T in 2022. Growth slowed slightly in 2023, but is still above 51 TP3T. Thailand and Indonesia experienced negative growth in 2020 but have since recovered. However, they are still experiencing lower growth rates overall compared to Vietnam.

Vietnam's exports have grown steadily since 2020, reaching $371.4 billion in 2022. In 2023, it dropped slightly, but still remained above $350 billion.

While Thailand and Indonesia are also seeing an upward trend in export value, Vietnam's growth is more pronounced, with Vietnam ($34.1 billion) significantly outpacing Thailand ($26 billion) and Indonesia ($19.1 billion) in monthly export value as of September 2024.

Key Features of Vietnam's Industry

Manufacturing growth: Vietnam's manufacturing sector is growing rapidly, especially electronics and machinery exports.
Foreign direct investment (FDI)Vietnam continues to receive high FDI inflows, fueling its economic growth.
Trade surplus: Vietnam has consistently run a trade surplus since 2020.

Tourism recovery: Tourism is recovering rapidly after COVID-19, contributing to the growth of the service sector.
In conclusion, Vietnam has seen the highest economic growth rate and export growth among Southeast Asian countries since 2020, and continues to develop its economy through manufacturing growth and FDI inflows.
