To perform mechanical sludge dewatering, a flocculation of the suspended solids present in the slurry is absolutely required.
When an emulsion polymer flocculant is chosen for the purpose, we need to disperse the macromolecules uniformly in a dilution water prior to feeding.
💧Reasons that you need to install the flocculant-dissolving system at your factories/treatment plants
The emulsion polymer flocculants are often for sludge dewatering processes. Since the polymer flocculant is already dissolved in the liquid, its dilution in water is very fast compared to that of the powdered polymer flocculants. Nevertheless, the polymer flocculant have to be uniformly dispersed in the dilution water, a system composed of a concentrated-emulsion container and a flocculant-dissolving tank equipped with an agitator is needed.
To attain a perfect dispersion of the polymer flocculants in water, a controlled agitation is essential. The polymers of the emulsion are present in a physically shrunk form. Therefore, the macromolecules have to be expanded in water to maximize the flocculation effect. To allow the expansion, the polymer solution must be placed in the tank for 30-60 minutes, which is called maturation time.

✅ How does FREETA-β work?
The concentrated emulsion placed in the container is diluted with water and fed to the flocculant-dissolving tank. At the tank, the polymer flocculant is uniformly dispersed with the agitator. The initially shrunk structure of the macromolecules is physically expanded in the water accordingly.
✅ Does FREETA- β have any limitations in sludge dewatering?
The system does not accept dissolving powdered polymer flocculants in water.
✅ Can FREETA- β also be used for polymer maturation?
Yes. The hydraulic retention time of the tank has been designed to attain both perfect dissolution of polymer flocculants and their maturation.
✅ Can we take our existing flocculant-dissolving system even after we install ARKs sludge dewatering system?
Depending on the capacity of the existing flocculant-dissolving system, no expansion is necessary. Please inquire at ARK for further suggestions.
